In Union Square, they’re trying to pen protestors in. Three hours of preventing protestors from simply walking. Three hours of police getting screamed at and that tension going on—and they have to be prepared to deal with it and respond professionally, but ultimately, they’re human beings—and three hours of protestors getting more, and more, and more agitated. Why? Just let them walk, let them go. I couldn’t understand for the life of me why this would be the response, particularly from this mayor. Folks are angry, they’re frustrated, and it’s all justified—just let them go. We were able to speak with officers, and they did let them go [across the Manhattan Bridge], but in those tense moments, I saw a couple of water bottles being thrown at police, and the protestors themselves started shaming the behavior.
